The remote douars of Elhaouz region in Morocco face serious difficulties in accessing healthcare. The distance and difficult roads mean that ambulances take a long time to arrive, and are sometimes impossible. Because of the population's medical illiteracy, people often die before receiving adequate medical assistance.
The project aims to train local volunteers in first aid and provide them with the basic medical equipment needed to stabilise people in distress while waiting for the emergency services to arrive.

Impact of Douar Care Project
Reducing Avoidable Mortality
With first aid training and access to basic medical equipment, local first responders would be able to provide vital emergency care more quickly, increasing the chances of survival for local people in the event of an accident or sudden illness.
Improved Access to Emergency Care
Douar residents would have a quicker and more effective response to medical emergencies, encouraging people to seek help earlier and access quality healthcare more easily.
Autonomy & empowerment
First aid training would give douars a sense of autonomy and empowerment. They would no longer be totally dependent on outside help for their survival in the event of a medical emergency. This would boost their self-esteem and their ability to act in critical situations.
Cultural Change
First aid skills could become a community norm, encouraging future generations to learn these essential skills. This would contribute to a culture of safety and emergency preparedness.
